That's it, Phil. Thanks.
In not-yet-published work with Carol Padden, my ASL colleague, Susan and
Carol have shown an analogous phenomenon for
Deaf kids. That work is exciting because with sign languages the issue of
gesture/language is within a single modalilty. I have
only heard it described, but all of this work makes one rethink the
gesture/language/thought relationship.
