Hej Mike. Oh, yes, a lot of wonderful thoughts and speeches. And I will tell about some, when I have looked through my notes. The for me most "touching" symposium was: /Testing the limits of CHAT in diverse contexts and global realities/, where Fernando Gonzales Rey, Pedro Portes, Alex Kozulin and Luis C. Moll touched our hearts and minds. That was revolutionary, Fernandos talked about subjectivity changed the subjectivity in the room, and made it clear not to see subjectivity as opposite to objectivity and the social.
They are involved in a new book, /Vygotsky in the 21st century society/, Peter Lang Publishing.
...I did not say revolution, I did say "revolutionary activity", - which is a "transforming activity", or some would say, is something like "expansive learning".
... as I said, more seconds thoughts will come. ...I talked to some of the organizers for ISCAR 2014, about ideas how to show more respect to key notes, e.g. how to establish some short dialogs and activities in the auditorium, how to stop discussants in talking about there own "stuff" instead of leading a discussion, in the room. Here Jan Valsiner was a wonderful exception, -his words gave the three symposium papers a "little Extra" on the top, - and his words made it possible, for the audiences, to join the discussion.
Three key speeches in the row, without break, or a discussant who talks, and talks about his own theory/research, has for me a kind of DELETE function - that is it makes me forget, where we came from, and where we are to go.
... Excuse that I am not only saying: /fine, how are you/, - Volker Den 12-09-2011 01:15, mike cole skrev:
Hi Volker-- Since I could not make it to Rome, like a LOT of xmca readers it would like to hear about interesting ideas of good thinkers, good researchers, and good practitioners. Did you hear the Ochs talk that we have access to? If so, did you find it helpful, too Hegelian, not Engestromish enough? If not, what do you recommend we follow up on? And where is the revolution? Here we are preoccupied with keeping the lights on! :-) mike in san diego On Sun, Sep 11, 2011 at 1:42 PM, Volker Bunzendahl<volker@volker.dk> wrote:Just some thoughts, second thoughts will follow. ISCAR 2011 - good thinkers, good researchers, good practicioners, but are we actually creating "revolutionary activity"? yes, and Rom and Italians are sweet, but for to create something "for the new generation", are fancy words and models, only, meaningless, if not we can connect with them with "people", who did not read the collected words of Hegel and Egestrøm. - Like my friend Leif Strandberg from Sweden...expressed it: "at scientific psychology congresses I often feel: *I can't breath*! Unfortunetly, I agree.
