Re: [xmca] Brandom's Inferentialism Further Reflections

As I read Taylor's response to Brandom, it is to accept his articulation of
the space of reasons.  He credits Brandom as having clearly and
comprehensively articulated this assertoric way of NOTICING or observing the
world.  He is not challenging Brandom's insights about giving and askinf for
reasons. However, Taylor's central critique is that Brandom's viewing reason
as the context that "surrounds" [my term] is not going far enough and Taylor
is suggesting we must locate Brandom's "space of reasons" in a more
expansive or inclusive context [way of life]
Now way of life for Taylor is his project as he articulates that every way
of life emerges or develops as particular ETHICAL STANCES as horizons of
understanding.

 Arthur, Taylor's critique is that a particular "method" that ONLY makes
sense within a way of life becomes reduced to an ontological way of being
that then positions the alternative practices [speech acts] as encompassed
in the "space of reasons" as REASON ALONE
