UNIVERSITY OF LIMPOPO

 *Postdoctoral Research Fellowship – Science education in South Africa 2011*

Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education  (DMSTE),
 Faculty of Humanities, University of Limpopo, P/Bag X1106, Sovenga, South
Africa

*Position:*

A postdoctoral research position focusing on science education is currently
available in the department of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education
(DMSTE). Candidates with experience in physics, chemistry or biology
education are encouraged to apply. The position will focus on quality
teaching and learning in Limpopo and South Africa. The fellowship is
available for a maximum period of three years starting 1 February 2011;
however, it is renewable every year depending on progress. A maximum of R150
000 per annum has been granted for the position and this amount will be free
of income tax. In addition, there will be extra funds for local and
international conferences annually for the period of three years.

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute significantly to:


a) The publication of research outputs from current and previous projects;
b) Daily supervision of postgraduate student projects;

c) Tutoring and demonstration as need be;
d) Developing new areas of research within science education.

*Requirements:*

A Ph.D. or D.Ed. in Science Education, obtained within the past five years,
with a strong background both *quantitative* and *qualitative* research in
science education.
