Hello Joseph:
I would be happy to try and clarify my thinking. Here goes my
attempt.
Within the framework of human development there is the field of
thought
that embraces stages and then the one LSV proposed which views
development
as a genesis (a coming into being) that has fits and starts,
regressions,
explosions and then ultimately conceptions that are mediated via
cultural
artefacts. I am hesitant about using the word linking when describing
what occurs between emotion and language because it balances more
towards
the stages view of development rather than a genetic view of
development.
Stages interpreted as meaning that the current stage sublimates the
prior
stage and does include what came before. Transition on the other hand
holds dear what came before and includes the predecessor within the
current. Does that make sense?

Eric, Please clarify the following thought. What do you mean here?
Maybe I should get it, but I don't, yet.

connection to be a transition?
