Hi All,
An interesting podcast detailing the historical context of Spinoza's
treatment at the hands of his own community can be downloaded below.
It doesn't cover Spinoza's philosophical work in any great detail,
but it gives a pretty good idea of the sociocultural climate in which
he was working, including a strong argument for categorising him as a
Jewish philosopher.
Most of the narration is by Steven Nadler, Professor of Philosophy
and Jewish Studies at The University of Wisconsin, Madison.
A half hour well spent.
