SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT/DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOPATHOLOGY and COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT.
The University of Minnesota, Institute of Child Development (ICD), College
of Education & Human Development invites applications for two positions, one
in Social Development/Developmental Psychopathology and the other in
Cognitive Development. These are full-time tenure-track positions. It is
anticipated that at least one of these positions will be at the beginning
Assistant Professor level, while one position may be filled by a more
advanced scholar with tenure. For the position in Social
Development/Developmental Psychopathology, ICD is seeking an individual
whose expertise is in social-emotional development in typically developing
and/or at-risk populations. The specific area of research and scholarship in
Social Development/Developmental Psychopathology is open; applications from
individuals whose research is focused on developmental processes are
especially encouraged to apply. For the position in Cognitive Development,
ICD is seeking an individual whose expertise is in cognition in typically
and/or atypically developing populations, or in modeling of developing
cognitive or neurocognitive processes. The specific area of research and
scholarship within Cognitive Development is open; applications from
individuals whose research is in perception, higher cognition, dynamic
systems interaction, or cognitive systems of the brain are especially
encouraged. The ICD has strong ties to University of Minnesota programs in
Family Social Science, Neuroscience, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Psychology, and
Sociology; and with the Center for Cognitive Sciences and the Center for
Neurobehavioral Development. Affiliated hospitals and clinics afford access
to special populations of theoretical and clinical interest. The University
has state-of-the-art neuroimaging facilities. The positions will begin
August 28, 2006, and salaries are commensurate with education and
experience.
Required Qualifications: An earned doctoral (or equivalent) in psychology,
developmental psychology, cognitive/affective neuroscience, or a doctorate
(or its equivalent, e.g., M.D.) in a related field (applications from ABD
candidates will be considered); and evidence of strong scholarship in the
form of publications in peer-reviewed outlets or a history of conference
presentations (commensurate with level of experience). Preferred
Qualifications: record of success in procuring external funding; evidence of
successful teaching, advising, and academic program development at the
undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels; and evidence of
service/outreach activities suitable to a tenure-track (or tenured) position
at a major land-grant university (all commensurate with level of experience
of the candidate).
