Peter,

I checked out several routes from California, including booking to
Sevilla. What I discovered is that it is considerably cheaper to
book the trip on two different tickets: the first to a European hub
such as Heathrow or Amsterdam, and a second ticket from the hub to
Sevilla. I hope that helps.
