in variability there is hope (doesn't Mike say that?)
One piece among many bits, I bet, of news to grow on:
In 2000, 17% of the vote in Escambia County, FL (Pensacola is the county
seat) was against Bush;
in 2004, local people mobilized against the Bush administration policies and
practices and people from Alabama, Louisiana, California, Georgia, New York
and who knows where else joined them to walk, drive, and phone for
registration and getting the vote at early voting, absentee ballots and on
Tuesday;
SO,
in 2004, in spite of devastation from the hurricane that limited efforts,
35% of the vote in Escambia County FL was against Bush.
As we told each other Wednesday, that is respectable and makes room for next
steps.
