Open Rank
The School of Education’s new Learning Sciences Program was created through a Chancellor’s
initiative to expand Indiana University’s already world class programs in
Cognitive Science, Informatics, and Education. The Learning Sciences Program,
housed in the School of Education, expects to fill five new positions over the
next four years. Candidates are expected to have interests in both research
and teaching. Rank, teaching responsibilities, and specific research
specializations are open – although at the present time, we are looking
for outstanding assistant or associate professors, and especially for those
with expertise in mathematics or science learning. Existing faculty in the
program already have strong working relationships not only with IU’s
programs in Cognitive Science and Informatics but also with fields ranging from
technology education and assessment to other learning-related programs inside
and outside the School of Education. Our programs and projects typically
integrate multiple practical and theoretical perspectives, and they often
involve the design of innovative and effective learning environments - for
individuals or groups, for children through adult, and for use inside or
outside of schools.
Indiana
University’s School of Education in Bloomington has over 100 faculty and
awards over 900 baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral degrees each year
making it a rich environment to impact teacher education as well as education
beyond schools. Our facilities are state of the art with advanced networking
environments. The campus itself has been rated one of the best wired in the
nation. The IUB campus sits in the rolling hills of southern Indiana with
forests and the largest lake in the state nearby. It is a culturally rich
environment, featuring one of the nation’s premier music schools. For
