Let me see if I have that issue of the Journal in my office. If so, I will
copy and post. As Yrjo noted, this is very relevant to the recent Goldin-
Meadow book. I have not read the book, but have heard G-M talk and talked
with her for some time, and she puts forth a couple of different interpretations
of how gesture is central to linguistic meaning making.
What appears common is at the level of "controling yourself from the outside"
but just what the resulting system of control is must be enormously variable.
