David-- There has been an avalanche of books and papers on the phylogeny
and ontogeny of language development! So many, I fear to start listing them.
I will try to put together a biblio in connection with other work, but it
will be a few weeks before its likely to get done. For an update on
Greenfield's ideas, see Annual Review of Psychology about two years ago
and article i culture, thought, and development edited by
Nucci et al, 2000.
