Angel,
Along with Peter and Jay's suggestions, Lev Manovich's book, The
Language of New Media, might be an interesting source here. He
suggests that new media is digitial media, as he is as interested in
ways that computer and digital technologies are altering "old" media,
like film, as in ways that it has formed "new" media, like web sites,
virtual reality rooms, computer games, and media-ted art
installations.
