Hello, or hello again, to older hands.

I taught in the British K-12 system for a number of years, as a
classroom teacher and computer education adviser. I have a BA from
the (British) Open University and a Ph.D from the (British)
University of Sussex. I worked at LCHC and the UCSD Dept of
Communication from 1988 to 1991, and then taught art education at
Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) from 1991 to 1995.

I just returned to a teacher education position in the art/museum
education program at Ohio University (Athens, OH), after working as a
project manager in the computer industry in Washington DC. (The DC
assignments included time at the Smithsonian, so there is some logic
to the move!).

I continue to be interested in the computer mediation of art
education but now in the context of the more general training of
specialist art teachers and of future museum educators. Our
students must learn to be interdisciplinary curriculum integrators if
they are to survive in a test-driven educational system, or the
competitive world of the contemporary museum. Also, we are trying to
reshape our program to reflect Ohio University's avowed commitment to
service learning and student engagement. We hope to be building some
interesting museum-and-community-based arts education projects and
systems down the line.
