Those are actual diagnostic terms used at the turn of the century. Cultures
of misunderstanding and fear pushed them to the 'insensitive' envelope. They
are very descriptive and I guarantee you that you are not an idiot, imbecile
or moron. They have to do with different degrees of retarded growth. Yes,
some individuals are retarded in their growth. There is no reason to lock
them up for this differnece, but if we insisit on having social services
provide help that is of benefit, it would be nice if people would at least
agree on a common terminology. We, of course, can't go back to the three
words I threw out but can't we who want to discuss psychological processes at
least agree that there is a normal pattern of behavior and subsequently an
abnormal pattern of behavior?
