In addition to G. Saxe's candy-selling children (Diane just offered that
reference) there is some work on math and "real life" --- in an Education
field called "realistic math" [at least I think that's the term]developed at
the Freudenthal Institute (Dutch). I don't know if the focus here is more
bringing out-of-school into school or In-school out of school. But that may
be a chicken/egg thing anyway. I'll be on the lookout for more.
