Some of the XMCA folks may have known David Smith, linguist, who taught
for many years at Pennsylvania University and the University of Alaska.
David had a massive stroke this week and died yesterday (Saturday) in
Tucson. David was the husband of Perry Gilmore who recently joined the
faculty at the University of Arizona. He was 65. At this time no plans
have been announced for a memorial. Messages to Perry can be sent to
