First, cool Eva me like.
Second, below is some information on the readings with the discussion
starting when Engestrom gives us his comments.
1) The reading is announced at the main MCA entry point like our monthly
readings. http://communication.ucsd.edu/MCA/
2) Mainly for future reference it will be linked in the archive section at
http://communication.ucsd.edu/MCA/Paper/index.html
3) That link which you may want to bookmark or add to your favorites is
http://communication.ucsd.edu/MCA/Paper/leontev/index.html
Now on to a brief explanation of the page. For fun mainly, I included a
java applet word search of individuals and terms that came to mind in the
first chapter. If this is too much or an irritant - let me know and I'll
take it off. The works will be accessible in three different formats HTML,
PDF, and MIA. HTML being just what it says html with no whistles. PDF being
Adobe Acrabat files and if you have version 4.0 or above they are indexed so
you have minimal search capabilities. MIA being chapters 1.3, and 4 that are
on the Marxist Internet Archive. Those chapters use CSS which makes the text
easier to read - line spacing and formatting - which most browsers should
support. Whenever possible it links references within the MIA archive, for
example, when Leontiev references Marx you can click to go to the Marx /
Engels archive.
Currently the intro and Chapter 1 are available and more will be added as
the reading progresses.
As an additional reference some may find ftp://weber.ucsd.edu/pub/lchc/xact/
useful. Leont'ev is mentioned throughout the multi-year history of the
x-act list serve. It is in .gz (unix) format which some archivers can open
(Win Zip doesn't). I use the free program power archiver and it opens most
anything. http://ipsoft.cjb.net/.
