Carl Levitin wrote a small book about the study of the blind deaf in wich
several folks who figure in this conversation play a role, not least,
Ilyenkov. I published it several years back in Soviet Psychology (One is
not born a personality). I think folks might find Levitin's little book
interesting in terms of several ongoing discussions, including the
Helen Keller story, relations between Ilyenkov and his vygotskian peers,
questions of kulture and culture, and so on.
