TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION DIVISION DIRECTOR

The Position:
The Lesley College Technology in Education program, a leading graduate
program for the integration of technology in schools, seeks a dynamic,
visionary, Division Director who can actively move the program forward.
The Director is responsible for the academic and administrative leadership
of the Technology in Education Division and is a member of the School of
Education's Administrative Leadership Team.
In this twelve month position, the Director manages 12 core faculty, 6
support staff, 175 adjunct faculty, serving 1500 students throughout the
world. The Cambridge based Technology in Education Program is delivered
in three formats: off campus in an intensive weekend format in fifteen
states, an Internet based distance learning format, and on campus in a
traditional format. The master's level program is high growth, dynamic and
complex.
The Director is responsible for:
Maintaining the program on the cutting edge of alternative format and
online learning.
- Advocate for the integration of emerging technologies in K-12 environments
- Encourage exploration of emerging technologies for program delivery
- Seek external support for research and development initiatives
Inspiring and supporting faculty with a vision for the power of educational
technology in schools
- Engage faculty in meeting the challenge of integrating technologies into
all classrooms
- Encourage and support faculty pursuit of grant opportunities
- Facilitate continuous course development and enhancement
Communicating the mission, scope and activities of the division to internal
and external communities
- Represent the Division on college wide committees
- Represent the Division on regional and state committees and advisory groups
- Coordinate Division activities with outreach efforts
- Represent the Division at current and new state review meetings
Valuing, incorporating, and representing the multiple perspectives of a
forward thinking, committed, high energy faculty
- promote dialog concerning program development and delivery
- foster collaboration and collegiality
- involve faculty in distributed leadership
- employ participatory problem solving
Maintaining an active professional presence
- teach in the division
- conduct scholarly activity such as conference presentations, research and
publications
The over-all academic and pedagogical quality of the division
- Supervise the development and implementation of curriculum.
- Coordinate internal and external academic review, including ICC, NEASC,
TEAC, and periodic internal campus reviews.
- Coordinate academic planning for the division and monitor program quality.
- Participate in accreditation and certification program reviews.
- Advocate for the division's concerns.
The professional well being of the faculty and staff
- Supervise and evaluate faculty and staff.
- Recommend and monitor faculty contracts and workload.
- Recommend and monitor administrative and staff contracts and workload.
- Coordinate scholarship/professional development opportunities for faculty
and staff.
- Assist Dean in reporting staffing patterns and workloads.
- Direct the recruitment, hiring, professional development, supervision and
evaluation of adjunct faculty.
The academic well being of students
- Monitor students' academic progress.
- Coordinate advisement for students' personal and professional development.
- Coordinate communications to students and alumni.
- Coordinate special events for students and alumni.
- Facilitate student grievances.
The fiscal health of the division
- Prepare and monitor the division budget.
- Supervise publication of division materials, advertisements and marketing.
- Supervise the review of applications and acceptance of students to the
division.
- Project and monitor division enrollments.
Minimum qualifications:
- an earned doctorate
- eligible for the rank of associate or full professor
- experience with integration of technology in education into K-12
classroom environments
- experience in higher education
- evidence of exemplary teaching
- experience with strategic planning and program development
Highly desirable qualifications:
- supervision and evaluation of creative professionals
- significant accomplishments in the field of educational technology
- providing leadership in developing a collegial environment for faculty
and staff
- integrating student perspectives in shaping the curriculum and delivery
of the program
- understanding adult learners and their unique needs
- recruiting and retaining diverse faculty, staff, and students
- solving day-to-day challenges in a large-scale, complex operation
- proficiency with technology for productivity and professional effectiveness
- building and administering a departmental budget
