Gary,
Two thoughts:
1. Rumor has it that they actually buried Asimov with his typewriter and
that people who have visited the cemetery when the moon is full claim to
have heard the ghostly clacking of typewriter keys and seen gossamer thin
vapors like written pages rising from the grave toward the stars. I guess
some spirits die slowly if at all.
2. One would have to be careful proposing that teachers should strive "to
develop them (students) humanely for the task of transforming their society
into Utopia". Some might consider this downright unamerican, smacking
strongly of either jesuit (ultramontanist) or communist (prototype
international conspiracy) tendencies depending on their own political
orientation.
