Learning Organisations and Knowledge Management - a Socio-Technical
Perspective
Call for Papers
The Operational Research Society of the UK is organising a conference
(OR42) in September 2000 on the theme of 'Operational Research in the
21st Century - Communication and Knowledge Management'
We would welcome papers for the Information Systems stream 'Learning
Organisations and Knowledge Management - a Socio-Technical Perspective'.
Successful papers will also be considered for a book of the same title, or
a special journal edition.
Knowledge Management has been a major topic for Management academics and
practitioners alike in the 1990s.
A growing number of studies have called for a more holistic, systemic
approach to Knowledge. It is not simply a 'tool' or 'resource' so much as a
social construct. It is a reciprocal, interdependent process of learning
arising from knowledge transfer and information flow and communication - a
Socio-Technical perspective which amalgamates the 'dualism' of people and
technology.
