I don't recall your first message, perhaps because I tired of the discussion
over Daly before you entered the fray, or perhaps because this medium, no
different from (but perhaps worse than) print media demands winnowing, and name
recognition is an expedient means of doing that. For all the ballyhoo in
academia about heeding silenced voices, there's the unavoidable tendency to heed
the voices of those whose names are known--and illustrious. No one can read it
all, so there's the powerful tendency to read the stuff of celebrities.
I'll keep my eye out for the Hevern name in my emailbox from now on.
