The discussion on context "levels" has been very interesting. I'm
wondering how Paul and others might read across Giddens' structuration
theory and the levels of activity/time/materials/space that Jay has been
discussing. One of the problems sometimes noted about structuration theory
is that it's much easier to trace constraints or affordances from what can
be considered more macro levels toward the micro than to get any sense, in
the opposite direction, of more micro or local-level structuring shaping
the macro. Simply put, what are the limits of structuration--is
structuration useful for thinking across levels, or is there a certain kind
of boundedness among "levels" (for lack of a better term)?
