Hi Yrjo,

I thought that Winograd (Usability: Turning Technologies into Tools, edited
with Paul Alder) might address the "Information Appliances and the
consideration of appropriate development paradigms" aspect of Rob's
research. And, I thought Norman (in general) would be good reading per
Rob's interest in ubiquitous computing and information appliances.

The Usability book in particular reflects some of the key principles of
activity based analyses. I saw relevancy because the book presents
artifacts, individuals and organizations in dynamic interaction as key to
understanding "design for usability" challenges.

I wan't sure if Rob was talking about human development paradigms or
technology development paradigms. These readings pertain more to the latter.

Regards,
Cynthia

Just out of curiosity, what might Terry Winograd's and Don Norman's works
have to do with activity theory?
