Developmental Studies Center (DSC) seeks a Director of Reading and
Language Arts. DSC, founded in 1980, is a nonprofit educational
organization devoted to creating, implementing, evaluating, and
disseminating programs and materials to help elementary schools and other
youth-serving organizations strengthen children's intellectual, social,
and ethical development.=20
The Director of Reading & Language Arts is a top management position
within DSC. The person filling the position will be responsible for
overseeing further development, improvements, and dissemination of DSC's
reading and language arts program. The position requires extremely high
levels of creativity, leadership, and expertise in reading-language arts
instruction and curriculum development. With these requirements come the
authority and autonomy to shape and staff this strategically pivotal
effort.=20
The ideal candidate will have expertise in the reading and language arts
field, extensive teaching experience at the K-8 levels, and experience in
administration and project management, curriculum development,
professional development, and working with poor and minority students.=20
Salary range: $75,900 - $96,400
Start date: ASAP, or by July, 1999
