Jay and Philip,
Mea culpa!
Philip send me a note that that Foucault's quote which I referring
to is appended in his message and not yours. I knew I was having trouble
to find it to include in your messages, but ...

I have a question for you, Jay.

I "Textual Politics", page 103-104 you define the term
"heteropraxia". You write:

"What applies to the discourses of diverse and often conflicting
subcommunities applies equally well to all their social practices and
formations; there is a general system of _heteorpraxia_, of specific
relations of alliance, opposition, etc. among their ways of doing, each
with respect to each others, of which the system of heteroglossia is one
very important part. No text can be read, no action interpreted, without
taking into account the existence of alternative and conflicting ways of
saying and doing within the same total community. No utterance or action
escapes making meanings, anticipated or not, in these terms."

Have you coined this term? It is just perfect for what I'm
interested on: Bakhtin and interactive media. I would add that no
"utterance or action escapes making meanings and trouble, anticipated or
not, in these terms" :)
