I, too, like Dewey's ideas about the positive value of practices
that "live fruitfully and creatively in further experiences." But here
is where our discussion about time becomes important. The future
is proleptic moment in the process of cultural mediation. It hasn't
happened yet. So we do not know, "in the moment" if the experience
will be fruitful or creative. And as everyone has emphasize, the
experience is constitued only in/with/of a context.
This gets us back to a Kathy Goff remark (if I remember
correctly): the basic method is inquiry, evaluatable only after the
fact by their consequences.
