Jerry Balzano is a professor in the Department of Music and the Program in
Teacher Education at UC San Diego. He is also affiliated with UCSD's
Laboratory for Comparative Cognition and its Program in Cognitive Science.
Jerry received his B.A. in Psychology from Franklin & Marshall College and
his Ph.D. in Cognitive/Mathematical Psychology from Stanford University.
His current interests revolve around the ideas of
"technology-across-the-curriculum" and computer modeling in science &
mathematics education, and he is particularly engaged in thinking about the
future of computer programming. New agent-based programmable environments
are, he thinks, the wave of the future for both research and educational
communities.
