I am a 54 year young special educator who has been either a school
principal or a classroom teacher for the past 32 consecutive years. During
the day, I am a special education teacher of some 21 learning disabled
students ranging in age from 9-12 years of age. During the evenings and
summers, I am a doctoral student in developmental psychology at the
University of Ottawa.
I am currently revising my Ph. D. thesis seminar paper to include
Vygotsky's zone of proximal development. My initial thesis was mainly
centred around Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences model and its
relationship to my daily work (see above). I wish to add Vygotsky's ZPD
concept to my theoretical model. Specifically, I want to to weave his ZPD
concept into my current framework.
I've been reading numerous articles and books about Vygotsky, ... or as I
like to call him, psychology's initial metacognitivist. I am currently
reading Luis C. Moll's Vygotsky and Education.
I would like to communicate with you and other who may assist me in all of
the above.
