The timescape of settings

Kevin:
I didn't intend to say that everybody had to deal with the survival aspect
of settings! But I _did_ want to signal an interest in getting some
discussion on that aspect, too.

Both the theoretical perspective of how do we delimit what is the setting
and what is the practice, for example -- how settings are in a nested
timescape, where "survival" becomes a matter of observer's judgement(???).
And what are the minimum criteria for a setting to count as a setting. (I
loved your description of those fluid boundaries between settings on the
lawn.)

AND the empirical questions about sustainability. For an educational
researcher watching the implementation of information technology in the
schools by means of a Project Paradigm where continuity is haphazard to say
the least, this is a vital issue.

Have to go now, but I'll try to come back to this.
