Dear Jim,
Thanks you for your succinct definition of different functional grammar
groups. my own brand would be a combination of Halliday (I use
him in an article on language acquisition I wrote over a decade ago in an
interesting collection edited by Bain, The Sociogenesis of Language
and Human Conduct) and I also rely on some of the wesy coast folks,
including Fillmore and Chafe.
