David, I strongly recommend that you start with Davydov's actual main work,
namely his book 'Types of generalization in instruction', published
originally in 1972 in Russian, now available as a pretty good translation
in English, published by National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
(Reston, 1990). The translation is hard to come by, unless you contact the
National Council directly.

Everything else from Davydov in English is based on this book, and in some
sense derivative or simplified.
