Your question fits the theme of collecitive memory that was metnione dby a German
colleague recently. I should think that there exist some systematic
studies of teacher's memories of their own schooling. In general,
I think it is true that people loose track of the extent to which
they systematically mis-represent the past in various ways. In this
sense, all memory is split memory.
