A small correction to my last note. Often when I try to type "genre", the
word "register" comes out instead. Go figure. Anyway, I meant to say that
Geoff Nunberg told me that punctuation is a good variable for a computer to
use in automatically recognizing genre. Geoff actually wrote a book about
punctuation, which is available as a CSLI report.
