Every so often people on this list share teaching ideas. One thing I've
tried to do is get my students involved in listserves; they have the option
of keeping some sort of response journal to list postings as one of their
course papers. To provide them with information about lists I've developed
the following document. Feel free to borrow from it. It's oriented towards
Language Arts/literacy/composition lists but has a few others as well.
>
> THE MOTHER OF ALL LISTS
> This is a list of electronic mail listserves. A listserve
>is an electronic forum for discussion based on a topic of common
>interest. When you subscribe to an email network, you'll receive
>each message that subscribers send to it, including your own.
>Discussions spring up around the various messages sent in.
>
>To subscribe to a network you typically:
> a. send a message to: listserv who-is-at universityname.edu
> b. leave the subject line of your message blank
> c. in the body of your message, type: subscribe listname
>Your Name
>
>There are variations on this basic procedure as you'll see. If
>you're interested in subscribing to a list, follow the
>instructions given. If that doesn't work, try one or more of the
>variations you'll see in the following instructions.
>
