I liked Jay's message wondering about stances towards activity. In my
earlier research I read a great deal of Luria's work and his theories of
consciousness that were very much complementary to and influenced by
Vygotsdky. He writes at length about the importance of inhibiting the
immediate operational response and taking a reflective stance as a basis
for novel or creative actions and'or interpretations of information.
