Dear Xmca-ers; For the past few years I have been working to elaborate
a "meso-genetic" methodology which includes recording and periodic re-flection,
re-collection of prior interpretations of the research activity I have
been engaged in. From what I can glean from the discussion, these efforts
may be relevant to the current discussion headed by Angel, Jay, and others.
The problem is I do not know how to introduce the work into XMCA discussion
because the one paper written on it (to appear in an upcoming Scribner
memorial volume) is long and depends a fair amount on graphics for
whatever communicative power it has. Xeroxing a couple of hundred copies
to distribute is prohibitively expensive.
This brings me back to the motives for pushing the MCA web page, which
will include xmca as a node. There I could post the paper with graphics.
But we are still not up and running. The best I can think of is to post
the text on xmca as a text file for access by ftp and then send graphics
on request.
I have the strong impression that to break through from gesturing at these
complicated topics to being able to discuss them thoroughly, we need to
ratchet up our communicative infrastructure, but that effort is at the
very edge of our collective capabilities.

PS- By all means, please send text to xmca list server for others to
retrieve in so far as that is possible. It should afford at least some
more extensive materials for constructing joint understandings.
