Hawthorne in my side

Mike, I debated about which effect term to use and settled on
halo after consulting the Adair, Sharpe, and Huynh (1989, RER)
article "Hawthorne control procedures in educational experiments:A
reconsideration of their use and effectiveness." They talk about
it as "the methodological contaminant first observed in the industrial
experiments known as the Hawthorne studies as an artifact that might
contaminate experiments in education." That didn't quite sound
like what I was talking about, so I went with halo, which I think
is also used to describe elevated performances.
Anyhow, you get the gist.
