Hi everybody! I am resubscribing after the summer and finding the
self-description just as difficult as I did last time. Rosa

I am a linguist with a sociolinguistics, discourse-interaction,
pragmatics orientation. I was born in Argentina but have lived in
different foreign countries since I was seven years old (India, Ireland,
the US [both in the South and Wash. D.C], Poland, the Netherlands) and
now for the last 15 years in Mexico. Probably because of my personal
history I am very interested in the role of language and functioning of
conversation in processes of group integration and identity construction.
Currently I am working at the Universidad Autonoma de Puebla where I am
in charge of the graduate program in language sciences. My current
research interests involve language development in children, especially
looking at interactive processes that propitiate development. Sub-topics
I am looking at/working on include evidence of metalinguistic awareness;
repairs, correction and clarification; the role of gesture in discourse
organization and the organization of explanations.
