Hello, my name is Larry Douglas. I am a first year student in the
Educational Psychology Phd program at Michigan State University. I have a
background in socio-cultural anthropology and psychology. Before graduate
school I worked as a counselor for mentally ill adults in Jackson, Michigan.
I am currently a member of the Socio-cultural Research Group
organized by King Beach. My general interests focus on learning and
development across the lifespan. Currently I am interested in
cultural-historical theory, activity theory and distributed cognition. The
works of Vygotsky, Cole, Hutchins and Saloman seem to be of central interest
to my investigations. I am also interested in issues of cross-cultural
psychology and cultural influences on learning and development.
One final area of interest that I have is technology. More
specifically I am interested in the social ramifications of technology as it
continues to develop at a rapid pace. I look forward to hearing from other
researchers who are members of this listserv.
Sincerely,
Larry Douglas
