I am a social anthropologist (graduated from the University of Cambridge,
England) I started to use the theory of activity as a wrote up my
dissertation which compares and contrasts the way peasant children in the
Andenean village of San Juan are socialized into becoming peasants
-learning through the shovel- and in the government school -learning
through books. (I am Colombian myself.)

After completing my dissertation in 1988, I worked for three years on
'teaching history for understanding.' Here the key concept was that of
understanding performances. Recently I have started to work on computer
mediated learning at B.B.N. and my interest in the theory of activity has
been re-kindled. I am particularly interested in relating the theory of
activity to the work of Bourdieu and of Giddens.
