Associate Professor at Brock University, a largely undergraduate university
of just over 10,000 students on the Niagara escarpment in St. Catharines,
west of Niagara Falls.
Teach contemporary literary theory and modern/contemporary literature in
the Department of English; Communications Theory in our interdisciplinary
Communications Studies Program (some 200 majors). Have taught just about
everything in literature over the 25 years I have been at Brock; am what
one might call a journeyprof. Have chaired department, program.
Am particularly interested in pedagogy, and am given to trying new ideas;
committed to interactive learning, encouraging peer learning.
Academic interests: particularly relations of sociology and literature;
among people who have influenced me: Ricoeur, Foucault, Geertz, Giddens.
Currently member of the Executive of the Ontario Confederation of
University Faculty Associations.
