At the University of Karlskrona/Ronneby in the south of Sweden, I am
member of a team which is bilding a research and educational program on
People-Computer-Work. In the program we attempt to integrate computer
science and human work science. Three research approaches or traditions are
inspiring us: activity theory, situated action, and "skill and technology."
(The latter is developed at the Centre of Working Life in Stockholm. It
started with studies of long term effects of the computerizing of work.
Characterizing phrases would be: Informers-based long term case studies;
tacit knowledge and Wittgenstein; close cooperation with artists and
artisans. Leading figure: Bo G=F6ranzon.)=20
My research background is in activity theory. After writing an introduction
to Vygotsky (in Swedish) 1977, I have been working on a project on promoting
explorative learning in school, and on developmental work research on
elderly care. For the moment I am doing research on cooperative work and
modern information technology.
I am in the group that is organizing the Fourth International Conference on
Activity Theory in Aarhus, Denmark, 1998.
