There was a conference in February 2013 that included many paperson neuroscience and creativity, perhaps some of them are now available -Educating for Creative Minds: Using Brain Science to Ignite Innovation and Imagination. I haven't read Sawyer's 2011 article - does he shed any lighton the topic? I have seen a few books titled the Creative Brain or somethinglike that - but they did not have anything specific to say about creativityexcept to rehash brain research (which of course has something to dowith creativity in some way.) Neuroscience is becoming the new buzz wordthat promises to explain everything people think, do, or feel - the mind is what thebrain does - but then disappointingly, there are seldom any new insights into processes like creativity.

One topic that is especially interesting to me is the role of implicit memory activation as a result of cross hemispheric activities. This is like the ah-ha moment you describe where there are dual processes and dual systems become dynamic and dialogical. Goldberg's novelty and routinization theory is applicable here as well.
