Jim's note put me in mind of this discussion paper that Giyoo Hatano wrote
in the book on Contexts of Learning
edited by Ellice Forman et al. It provides an interesting view of someone
who was seeking to sort out the variations
of theorizing coming from a Japanese developmental perspective..... and who
had a fascinating article in the volume
on SCT research that I commented on earlier.
