Re: [xmca] please sign the NAACP pledge about textbooks

Benjamin Jealous, the national President of NAACP, travelled to Texas to testify before the Texas board on Wed morning.

As if to underscore the continuing relevance of the history, he has been back in Washington today interviewing across the networks (except for one network, I expect) about the statements yesterday by the Republican nominee for US Senator from Kentucky arguing that government does not have the power to outlaw racial discrimination by private entities.

Today, the Board decided theat the U.S. Civil War was not about slavery.

Gary Bledsoe
Texas President
NAACP

P.S. To find out the voting results and watch an interview with NAACP
President, Benjamin Todd Jealous, tune in to NBC Nightly News tomorrow
(Friday) at 6:30/5:30 p.m. ET/CT.
