Conference Announcement
  
The Department of Preschool Education of the University of Crete is
organizing an International Interdisciplinary Conference on Bakhtin which
will be held from 25th to 27th May 2007 in Rethymno, Crete. The conference
theme is:
  
PERSPECTIVES AND LIMITS OF DIALOGISM IN MIKHAIL BAKHTIN:
APPLICATIONS IN PSYCHOLOGY, ART, EDUCATION AND CULTURE
  
The conference aims to address the current thinking and research on: (a) the
nature of dialogism, (b) the epistemological, methodological, literary,
psychological, educational, social-historical, cultural and ecological
dimensions of dialogism, and (c) the role of dialogism in the cognitive,
pedagogical, developmental, communicative, inter-subjective and social-moral
processes.
  
Conference Topics
The scope of the conference includes - but is not limited to - the following
themes:
Dialogic approaches in education
Dialogism and cognitive processes
Post-modernism and dialogism
Otherness and dialogical processes
Discourse, narrative and dialogism
Dialogism and alternative pedagogical approaches Monological and dialogical
practices
  
Keynote Speakers
Kenneth J. Gergen, Department of Psychology in Swarthmore College Liudmila
Bulavka, Russian Institute for Cultural Research Patrick Dillon, School of
Education and Lifelong Learning, University of Exeter, UK
  
Conference Presentation Types
The conference will include both full papers and symposia. The authors of
accepted papers of either type are expected to give an oral presentation of
about 20 minutes.
  
Submission of Summaries
Extended summaries of about 1500 words should be submitted, detailing the
aim, theoretical framework, method, main findings, and conclusions.
  
Conference Proceedings
An extended version of all papers accepted for presentation can be submitted
for inclusion in the conference proceedings volume.

Submission of abstracts: 1st March 2007 Notification of acceptance: 31st
March 2007
