Dear Friends,
Thank you so very much for your responses. Mike made a suggestion about perhaps collecting some money for a present for Gita L'vovna, instead of flowers. I was wondering about that, and realized that one of her passions is the Vygotsky Memorial Room (a very small room) in the Vygotsky Institute of Psychology, Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU). I think it might bring her real joy to be able to improve that room. She is very proud of it. This brings me to another point of information I will be sharing with all of you in depth later. There will be an international conference at RGGU in November 2006, to celebrate 110 years since the birth of Vygotsky. It is hoped that many people will want to come to Moscow for that conference. If you know of people interested in participating, there will be formal invitations sent out, and many of you will be invited when we meet at ISCAR. If you know of someone who would be interested, please let me know. Also, there was an a!
 ttempt to
form an International Vygotsky Society in 1999 (in Moscow), but things did not work out. Now, it has been formed, but is in the very beginning stages. You will hear more about this later. And, the last point: a big thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion of signs/Peirce/semiotics....it was truly excellent. I did not have time to participate, but hope to continue this discussion with contributions at ISCAR. To all of you, a big thanks for everything you are doing, and a big thanks for remembering Gita L'vovna. If you do want to send financial contributions, you can send them to me, and you can be sure something good will happen, and each of you will be mentioned.
