Thanks for the link and bringing up the topic of Huntington. He's been a
bete noir of many anthropologists since his clash of civilzations thesis
gained unfortunate currency.
Huntington's stark essentialism can be related to many situations,
especially the Abu Ghraib scandal. Said and Herzfeld have spoken eloquently
against essentialism, and I think this article in the Guardian exposes and
clarifies the orientalist biases that underpin Huntington's work:
